For years, music teachers have been on the forefront of performance based instruction.  Nothing speaks the end result or the product more than a concert or performance. There is very little room to hide if the ensemble cannot perform.  

Along with that, there are times when music education itself incorporates so many other fields, either passively or proactively that we forget just how important we are in the grand scheme of teaching the whole child.  This goes beyond multidisciplinary instruction in a day and age where most things are an internet search away.

We now live in an age where technology, either by way of iPads, Chromebooks, laptops or other devices can, if used correctly transform the music classroom and make what was once 'just a concert' more of a holistic unit of study.  That paired with growing time constraints and the demand for more improved workflow have made this the perfect time to find ways to simplify and improve the classroom. This can also extend learning outside of the class with added rigor... but not necessarily with a great amount of added time.  

Our goal at Quintem Designs is to explore new techniques and strategies in all of the different areas of music education, from concert ensembles, marching band, choir, orchestra, and other pageantry arts like winterguard to help you and others increase the depth of educational opportunities while increasing effectiveness. This is no small task, and not everything we share is going to work for you and your situation, but our hope is that even one or two ideas will become something you can utilize effectively in your classroom to the benefit of all.
